Every year the NFBL awards scholarships to blind college bound students. All winners receive a cash award and an all-expenses paid trip to attend the entire state convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Louisiana (NFBL). Winners must attend the entire convention in order to be eligible for a scholarship. A scholarship committee selects the recipients of the awards with approval of the NFBL Board.
Criteria: Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, leadership ability, service to the community, and financial need. Applicants must be legally blind residents of Louisiana. Applicants must also be enrolled as full-time students of a post-secondary institution in the fall of the next academice school year. Previous winners are eligible for scholarships.
Membership: Recipients of these scholarships need not be members of the NFBL.
