AN UPDATE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE NFB OF LOUISIANA
First, I'd like to acknowledge Amber Chesser for her contributions to LABS during the past year. We have certainly all benefited from Amber's fresh perspective and giving spirit. I'd like to thank Amber and the outgoing LABS board for outstanding service. Congratulations to Meleah, Jessica, Joann, Jonathan and Chandra. I know that you will work together to develop exciting opportunities for students around Louisiana. We're counting on you to help nurture the leaders of the next generation. Congratulations to Meleah who in addition to being elected LABS president was also elected to the NFBL Board of Directors.
Since we've just finished another successful state convention, I'd like to urge all of you to begin thinking about the Fall LABS seminar. We need your help to spread the word about this valuable experience. Please let Meleah and the LABS Board hear about your ideas for this important weekend. As far as the next NFBL event, we'll be chartering two buses to go to Louisville, Kentucky from July 1 - 8 for our national convention. If you haven't attended a national convention, I urge you to try to be there this year. The convention promises to be full of outstanding opportunities for learning and fellowship. If you have attended previous national conventions, you know that the experience is unforgettable. Even though I've been going to national conventions since 1991, I am always inspired every summer. The National Federation of the Blind is a powerful organization, and our national convention is the perfect place to experience the power of collective action. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about convention arrangements. We'd like to take home the banner for the highest attendance so I hope you'll be there. Keep up the great work!
Best,
Pam Allen
