2008 NATIONAL CONVENTION

This summer, thousands of the nation's blind will be heading for Dallas, Texas to attend the 2008 Annual Convention of the National Federation of the Blind from
Sunday, June 29th to Saturday, July 5th. Transportation assistance will be provided for (dues paying) members of the National Federation of the Blind of Louisiana who wish to attend this convention. You can visit www.nfb.org to pre-register for the convention, or you may register in Dallas starting June 30th.
In addition to well-known featured speakers and an enormous exhibit hall filled with technology, literature and services, there will be numerous special interest meetings, including... a Parents of Blind Children seminar... a meeting for blind high school and college students... a meeting for blind diabetics... workshops for those interested in computers and technology... meetings for various professionals, and much more! There will be exciting tours and social activities throughout the week as well.
Hotel Reservations
This year's convention will be held at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. Room rates, as always, are phenomenal: singles and doubles $61 and triples and quads $66 a night, plus tax (which is presently 15%). There will be no charge for children (15 and under) in the room with parents as long as no extra bed is requested. A $60 deposit or a credit card number is required to make a reservation. Fifty percent of the deposit will be refunded if notice is given to the hotel of a reservation cancellation before June 1, 2008. The other 50% is not refundable. Transportation
For questions about transportation from various cities in Louisiana and to make reservations, please call Susan Clark at (800) 234-4166. Bus reservations must be made by May 30th to ensure a seat. (Space is limited.)
Departure: Convention buses will depart from Louisiana on Saturday, June 28th. Meetings begin on Sunday, June 29th.
Return: On the return trip, buses leave Dallas at 6:00 PM on July 5th.
